Thank you. It has arrived, and you will hear from me inside two working days.
What a commission costs
Half on booking, half on delivery. Travel, stay and any framing are quoted separately and at cost.
A day on location
From $1,800
One day of drawing wherever you need it.
- Six to eight hours on site
- Three to five finished pages
- Every rough and offcut, scanned
- Usage for one campaign or issue
- Travel and stay at cost
A week in one place
From $7,200
A series rather than a picture, which is what most of this work wants to be.
- Five days on site
- Fifteen to twenty finished pages
- A fold-out panorama of the place
- Usage worldwide, all editions
- Travel and stay at cost
Licensing
From $450
A page that already exists, for something you are printing.
- Any page from the twelve series
- Quoted on print run and territory
- High resolution file the same week
- A figure back the same day you ask
- No minimum order
The details worth settling
Who owns the drawings?
I do, and you license the use we write down. The originals stay with me unless you buy them, which people often do at the end of a job and which I price separately from the commission.
Can you work from photographs?
No. The whole value of this is that I was standing there, and a drawing made from a photograph looks like one within about thirty seconds. If you need the place drawn, I need to go to the place.
What if the weather ruins the days I am booked for?
I build a spare day into anything longer than three days and I draw from under cover when I have to. If a whole trip is washed out we reschedule and you pay only what was actually drawn.
Do you draw live at events?
Often, and it is my favorite kind of job. Day rate plus travel, I bring everything, and the pages go to you at the end of the night rather than a week later.
How far ahead should I ask?
Two to three months for a week on location, less for a single day, and licensing can happen the same afternoon. The calendar looks fuller than it is because I hold time for the monthly Kadıköy drawing.
